Discover the major projects at the Horne Smelter, where we are investing significantly to modernize and optimize our operations. These initiatives are aimed not only at improving the efficiency of our plant, but also at strengthening our environmental performance.

  • Optimization projects

    To continue reducing atmospheric emissions, the teams in place have been working on optimization projects.

  • New sampling station

    A new ambient air sampling station has been installed to the north of the smelter, near the by-pass lane.

  • Quemont 2

    The pre-closure works, carried out between February and July 2024, are the first phase of an environmental project to completely restore the site.

  • Noranda 3

    We will be carrying out pre-closure work on the Noranda 3 tailings facility, a site that has been inactive since the 1980s. This work represents the first phase of an environmental project to completely restore the site.

  • Optimizing concentrate unloading

    A number of projects are under way to reduce dust from concentrate unloading. These include the piloting of a snow cannon, the installation of control walls, the piloting of a high-efficiency sweeper truck, a new fogging unit, etc. 

  • Reactor pilot project

    Testing new technologies at the reactor to increase our capacity to process recycled materials.
