Established in Montreal since 1955, General Smelting is one of North America's most established manufacturers of cast, rolled, extruded, welded and machined lead products and alloys.

We specialize in the fabrication of lead alloy anodes for zinc, copper, cobalt and nickel refining and electrowinning processes along with anodes for chrome plating and pickling applications. We also manufacture lead sheets which are a material of choice for radiation shielding and soundproofing applications.  

We have one the world’s most experienced Lead Burning Team offering lead construction and maintenance services for wet electrostatic precipitators and sulphuric acid plant equipment on a worldwide basis.

We are strategically located in Lachine, Quebec, with easy access to the Port of Montreal, key railway terminals and major highways, which greatly facilitates logistics providing us with a global reach.

We have an extensive lead recycling program, buying large quantities of secondary lead through a well-established supply network. All our processes and procedures are documented and controlled in accordance with ISO 9001:2015 standards.
