Siren Operation – Emergency Drill – May 7th, 2026 – 11 a.m.
NOTICE TO CITIZENS: CEZinc, along with the municipalities of Salaberry-de-Valleyfield, Saint-Louis-de-Gonzague, and Saint-Stanislas-de-Kostka, would like to inform citizens that a public alert drill will take place on May 7th at 11 a.m.
The operation will last between 5 and 10 minutes. While the sirens may be heard beyond the targeted area, only businesses and residents of Salaberry-de-Valleyfield located within a 3.5 km radius of the CEZinc plant will receive a test message from the Automated Emergency Messaging System (SAM).
NO action is required on your part. The end of the siren will signal the conclusion of the drill.
ISO 9002 / ISO 9001
In 1992, the refinery became the first zinc refinery in the world to obtain International Organisation for Standardisation (ISO) 9002 certification for all stages of its zinc production quality management system.
In 1995, the ISO 9002 certification was extended to the quality management system for the production of sulphuric acid.
In 2003 the quality management systems for zinc and sulphuric acid production were certified to ISO 9001.
ISO 14001
In 2005, the refinery received ISO 14001 certification for the management of all its environmental processes.
ISO/IEC 17025
In 2009, the refinery's laboratory was accredited by the Centre d'expertise en analyse environnementale du Québec (CEAEQ) under the provisions of the Environmental Quality Act and in accordance with accreditation standards and requirements, including the international standard ISO/CEI 17025.
ISO 45001
In 2023, the refinery will be ISO 45001 certified for the management of all health and safety processes at the plant.
