Water quality monitoring
EVR is required to conduct monitoring at over 130 water quality locations and over 100 biological monitoring stations in the Elk Valley and within the Koocanusa Reservoir. The purpose of this monitoring is to evaluate water quality and to allow for the early detection of emerging water quality concerns. Monitoring results are used to inform management decisions and support the protection of aquatic and human health.
Monitoring reports related to the Elk Valley Water Quality Plan can be found below.
On July 11, 2024, Glencore's acquisition of a 77% interest in EVR from Teck Resources successfully closed. Reports prepared prior to this date were prepared by or at the request of Teck Resources as the former operator of EVR.
