Responsible mining in the Elk Valley
EVR operates four steelmaking coal mines in the Elk Valley of British Columbia, providing jobs for more than 5,000 people. We are committed to responsible resource development, environmental performance and water quality in the region, and building strong partnerships with Indigenous Peoples and within the communities where we operate.
Ownership
Glencore acquired a majority interest in Teck's steelmaking coal business, Elk Valley Resources (EVR), in 2024. Glencore is the major shareholder of EVR with 77% interest and manages the operations on behalf of a joint venture with NSC (20% interest) and POSCO (3% interest).
EVR is proud to be a part of Glencore’s Canadian operations and to ensure a strong, sustainable future for the Elk Valley, while building one of the world’s leading steelmaking coal businesses.
Leadership
EVR is managed and run by an experienced leadership team based in British Columbia. EVR has a long and proud history of working with our community and Indigenous Peoples to responsibly source steelmaking coal. This creates benefits for Canada, British Columbia, and our employees, communities, and Indigenous Peoples of the Elk Valley.
